What is a yoga in astrology? Give Gajakesari as the example

In astrology, a yoga is a specific combination of planets by sign or house in a birth chart that classical texts say points to a particular tendency. Gaja-Kesari Yoga is the standard example: Jupiter sits in a kendra, meaning the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house, from the Moon. The tradition reads it as a hint of intellect, fame and respect. A yoga shows a tendency, not a guarantee, and it is read along with the whole chart. Mera Guru Ji finds the yogas formed in your chart from your birth details, using classical rules.

Does a dosha mean something bad will happen?

No. A dosha is a condition in the chart that classical texts note, not a prediction that something bad will happen. Most doshas come with traditional cancellations, called bhanga, under which the effect is considered reduced or removed, and the rest of the chart and the running dasha matter a great deal. Many people with a named dosha live perfectly ordinary lives. Mera Guru Ji mentions a dosha calmly and only as one point of the chart, and it does not try to frighten anyone about it.

What is Sade Sati and is it always bad?

Sade Sati is the roughly seven and a half years in which Saturn passes through the 12th, the 1st and the 2nd sign from your natal Moon, about two and a half years in each. It is not always bad. Tradition associates it with slower, more demanding years, but dates alone predict nothing: Saturn's transit sets the stage, and the running dasha shapes what is actually felt. People often describe it as a period of discipline and maturity. Read it alongside the whole chart, not as a countdown.

What is a Mahadasha and how do I know which one I am running?

A Mahadasha is a long planetary period in the Vimshottari system, which divides a 120-year cycle among nine planets: Ketu 7 years, Venus 20, Sun 6, Moon 10, Mars 7, Rahu 18, Jupiter 16, Saturn 19 and Mercury 17. Where you start in the cycle depends on the Moon's nakshatra at your birth. To know your current one you need your date, time and place of birth. Mera Guru Ji's free kundli calculates your dasha from your birth details, not with AI, and the Learn pages explain each planet's period.

What is the Navamsa (D9) chart and why does it matter for marriage?

The Navamsa, or D9, is a divisional chart made by splitting each zodiac sign into nine equal parts. The tradition treats it as a close look at the strength of each planet and uses it, with the 7th house and the planets Venus and Jupiter, to read marriage and the spouse. It is not a separate chart of a different person: it refines the birth chart and has to be read with it. The kundli in the Mera Guru Ji app includes the Navamsa (D9), calculated from your birth details.

What is Manglik dosha, in short?

Manglik dosha, or Mangal dosha, is said to be present when Mars sits in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house of the birth chart, and many also check the same houses counted from the Moon. The tradition links it with intensity in relationships, which is why it is checked in matchmaking. It is not a doom: classical rules give several cancellations (bhanga), and one partner's Mars is read with the other's chart. Mera Guru Ji's Kundli Milan checks it along with those cancellation rules.

Do I need to wear a gemstone or do remedies?

No, no one needs to. Gemstones, mantras, fasts and charity are traditional practices, and traditions differ widely on whether and which ones help, so they are always a personal choice and never a requirement. Be wary of anyone who pressures you, creates fear or asks for a large sum. Mera Guru Ji does not sell gemstones, and its gurujis never push a remedy on you. If a simple practice such as a mantra or a quiet prayer gives you comfort, that is reason enough.

Where do the explanations on this site come from?

The explanations follow classical Jyotish, the traditional Vedic texts pandits learn from, and a rule is published only when the tradition states it clearly, never as a guess. The numbers themselves, such as positions, dasha and gunas, are calculated from your birth details with fixed astronomical rules, not written by AI. Astrology shows tendencies, not certainties.
